– 1 can chickpeas
– 1 onion
– 1 clove garlic
– 3 slices of bread
– 1 egg (optional)
– Grated ginger (optional)
– 3 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil
– 2 tbsp. of (optional) Parmesan cheese
– bread crumbs
– salt


Drain beans, rinse them and let them drain. Once this is done put them in a food processor.
Peel the onion and cut into large chunks. Add them to the mixer along with the peeled and chopped garlic ,oil and grated ginger.
Add some salt and bread cut into small pieces. Process well until creamy.

For a veggie burger, add the egg and parmesan cheese, stir and then adjust the consistency with the breadcrumbs.
Mix well until it is creamy and consistent. Take portions of the mixture and make hamburgers, either by using your hand or with the appropriate tool.
Grease a non-stick pan and cook the burgers on both sides.
Toast the buns and place it on a plate together with the burger. Add ketchup, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes and, if you wish, even pickles.

For a more gourmet recipe, you can add also other ingredients such as dried tomatoes or mushrooms ; which will give a more intense flavor to the burger.
